About
The Department of Sanskrit was started in 1976 to offer second language Sanskrit to pre-University students. It then came to be offered under Part I: language for all undergraduate courses.

Sanskrit Day is celebrated every year to acquaint people with the greatness of the language
Spoken Sanskrit course is offered from time to time for both students adn Faculty, in collaboration with Samskrita Bharati
A non-major elective in basics of Sanskrit is offered for undergraduate students with no knowledge of Sanskrit
A Certificate Course in Sanskrit to prepare students for the examinations conducted by Samskrita Bharati is offered in collaboration wtih Samskrita Bharati
