About

The Department of Sanskrit was started in 1976 to offer second language Sanskrit to pre-University students. It then came to be offered under Part I: language for all undergraduate courses.


The Spotlight
  • Sanskrit Day is celebrated every year to acquaint people with the greatness of the language

  • Spoken Sanskrit course is offered from time to time for both students adn Faculty, in collaboration with Samskrita Bharati

  • A non-major elective in basics of Sanskrit is offered for undergraduate students with no knowledge of Sanskrit

  • A Certificate Course in Sanskrit to prepare students for the examinations conducted by Samskrita Bharati is offered in collaboration wtih Samskrita Bharati
